Artist | Student | Varied

Hello everyone and welcome to my gallery. I am a student at Uni who did art for about three years before life led me to finish my degree in Communication Studies and Photography. I also do a lot of traditional art as well and try digital painting from time to time. Another hobby of mine is photomanipulation, so doubtless you'll see those as well on here. I have separate folders for my various art classes, as well as folders for personal work and gifts/trades/commissions as well. Come on by and watch! I also give llamas if you fav, comment, watch, or give one back. ^-^

Deviantart Questionnaire

  • How long have you been on DeviantArt?

Technically speaking I have been on this account for the past two years. However, I had an account before that which is now 8 years old so that's how long I've officially been on dA.

  • What does your username mean?

AutumnLegacy, KyteWish, Aeriette. I've had a couple of different usernames throughout the years. Originally AutumnLegacy was a name I created because I thought it sounded cool, and somewhat Warrior-esque. KyteWish came from a character I used to have named Kytrie, and my personal wish to become a better artist. Aeriette, my newest name was because I wanted something that flowed a bit better to me, and it is filled with some of my favorite sounds put together. If you're curious, I pronounce it personally as I-re-et.
  • Describe yourself in three words.

Imaginative, Curious, and Perceptive.
  • Are you left or right handed?

Right handed.
  • What was your first deviation?

Funny enough, my first deviation was actually not a drawing or photograph, but a piece of writing I had done just to simply vent out my frustrations about society's expectations about self image. I was in 10th grade at the time, and struggling with confidence in myself and my appearance as most young adults and teenagers tend to do.
I am who I amLooking in a mirror I see the face of a girl.
It's not exceptionally beautiful; and nothing like the face of a model.
But then again why should it be?
Why can't society just accept me as I am with my imperfections and unique features?
Why is it that I must be exposed to the constant reminder that I'm not society's ideal image?
Just because I'm not stick thin or have perfect flawless skin, does this mean that I can never be called beautiful?
Or that no one will ever take interest.
I am who I am.
My looks, my personality, and the way I talk and do things are my own.
My smile is my own and my laugh is no one else's but mine.
And knowing these things I turn away from the mirror.
If society doesn't think that's good enough, then that's their problem.
I think it is, and that's enough for me.

My first drawing I ever submitted was also on my old account, and was something I had scanned in and colored over. I had been so proud of it back then, and looking back now it really shows how much I've improved even with digital work. This was back in the end of 10th grade.

As for the first piece I submitted to this account, it would be this one. This was done my senior year of high school digitally.

  • What is your favourite type of art to create?

Honestly, I love exploring different types of art to see what each one can do. I have enjoyed drawing sketches, working digitally, and learning photography and photomanipulation the most though out of all the mediums. I also write still, though I haven't posted any of that in a long while.
  • If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?

Oh gosh, it would be painting. I love the idea of being able to paint, and I think there is just so much you can do with that medium.
  • What was your first favourite?

:iconwildspiritwolf: was one of the first artists I followed when joining dA, and it shows in the first image I made a favorite.

  • What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

I favorite more on genre, or subject, more than type. I do end up picking a lot of digital or traditional images though in various fandoms I enjoy. My favorite folders are broken into these categories a lot of time so it's easier for me to find them. I also tend to favorite tutorials, references, and stock materials.
  • Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

Ugh, do I have to choose? I don't know who my current favorite would be, but my first favorite, and still one of the ones I love watching the most, would be :iconkayfedewa:. I have to say as a young artist even back in middle school her work really helped to mold my interests and my style at times.
  • If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

Can I say everyone?!
  • How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?

There are a lot of people I could put here, from artists I was able to ask questions of, to others that I simply could watch stream. Some I was able to begin talking to online, and others I made friends with in various rpg communities in forums. I'm just going to tag a bunch of you, and if I missed you know that I love you regardless and that all of my friends, watchers, and those that I watch have all made a huge impact on me!!!!

  • What are your preferred tools to create art?

I've always been most comfortable with a pencil or pen, but I also enjoy markers, colored pencils, water color, a camera, and a tablet. I'm still learning how to use many of these, but I do love each and every one of them.
  • What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?

I think I do best when I've brought myself to a place that peaks my interest. Whether that's going into nature and discovering something serene and new, or walking through town. Sometimes it's even sitting at home with my kitten, a cup of tea, and some natural light through an open window. My inspiration may come from many sources, but in the end the place that I find most comforting -and at times most frustrating too ironically- is my own head worlds.
  • What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?

My favorite memory would have to be when I sent a note to Kay Fedewa asking about what it was like being an artist, as well as for some advice. I hadn't really ever talked to her before, but I sent it anyway and when I received a reply I was so excited I practically started squealing right then and there. It wasn't just a short response either, but one that seemed to have taken some time and thought, and mattered much to me. I was so happy about it that I shared it instantly with family and friends to show the good advice I had been given, as well as my joy at getting a response from someone I often viewed as an idol when it came to my art.
